My name is Paula Balmer and I came up with the idea for Cutie Patootie Boutique. We don't have a big fancy boutique, and we don't order our jewelry from an outside company. Tricia and I hand make each and every piece ourselves at my kitchen table.
I came up with the idea for Cutie Patootie Boutique because I needed a way to make extra money without having to get a part time job away from my kiddos.
A co-worker of mine came to work wearing a soldered bubble pendant. I thought it was adorable but when she told me how much she paid for it I was SHOCKED! I studied it and thought to myself, "I can do that". I started thinking that it would be great to learn how to make them and sell them at a price that EVERYONE could afford.
I started researching it on the internet and got a rough idea of how to do it. I asked my friend and co-worker, Tricia Kliethermes, if she would be interested in making and selling this kind of jewelry with me. She agreed and Cutie Patootie Boutique was born.
After a LOT of burned and cut fingers, we perfected the art and started selling our pendants to friends, family, and co-workers. Word of mouth is a wonderful thing. We started getting phone calls from people who had received our jewelry as gifts because they wanted to order more. We started going to client's offices on our lunch hour from work and taking orders from people. People loved the idea of being able to create their own look. Then we got the idea to host jewelry parties at peoples homes. It as been so much fun!
